The Whisky Cellar is a labour of love by someone passionate about the North of Scotland and its produce.

Murray Lamont opened our very first shop ‘Bin Ends, the fine wine shop’, back in 1995 in Wick.  Murray is also the owner of Mackays Hotel in Wick and Murray’s love for fine wines and whiskies were the driving factor for his new venture into retail.  The Thurso shop soon followed and more recently the shop at Inverness Airport.

Our shops are a result of Murray’s desire to bring outstanding and diverse wines to Caithness and connect with like-minded wine drinkers, letting them experience these wines.

Instead of turning water into wine, Murray is turning his wine business into whisky!  An avid collector, Murray is now releasing some of his favourite drams via his shops.

Quality is the key to everything the Whisky Cellar does.  Short term deals are not our raison d’etre. Producing great whisky and spirits takes time and requires great skill, we think it’s worth paying for, don’t you?
