Easily reached from Inverness, with several flights a day heading to London, the UK’s capital city can offer two festive markets which are an experience even Santa’s elf would be in awe of. You can attend the famous market in Hyde Park, with return flights from Inverness coming in at an incredibly affordable £29 (here) – you’ll even have plenty of pennies left over to do some Christmas shopping! And, if you fancy something a bit different you can get to Southbank Centre’s Winter Market to experience the best in Asian, Indian and Greek cuisines alongside traditional Christmas scran.

If London is too busy for you, why not escape to Ireland? Belfast’s Christmas Market is already in full swing, commencing on the 16th of November. The festivities welcome over 30 international traders offering delicious foods from around the world and beautiful crafts that would make a thoughtful gift for a loved one. You can get there from only £92 return during the height of Christmas celebrations (here).

If you’ve ever wanted to visit the world-famous German Christmas Markets, you don’t have to go over seas for the experience! Birmingham city is paired with the German town of Frankfurt, so you might not be all that surprised to find the largest authentic German Christmas market outside of Germany in Birmingham! You’ll be spoilt for choice as the city also plays host to a floating Christmas market! With more canals than Venice, make sure to spare some time to browse their Christmas market aboard the narrowboats! Book return flights to Birmingham from Inverness from only £96 (here).

Another spectacular market that should be on your must-visit list is the Nottingham Winter Wonderland! Head to the East Midlands and experience their largest Christmas market – home to over 70 stalls, an ice bar, an ice rink and a regular schedule of apres ski style entertainment! You can fly there from only £143 return from Inverness Airport (here).

Want to go further afield? Well that’s pretty easy with flights to Amsterdam from Inverness Airport every day from only £160 return here. Amsterdam has consistent markets every week in the run up to the festivities, so why not soak up a different country right before the Christmas craziness begins.

So why not get in the festive spirits with a trip away; sip on some hot chocolate, admire city Christmas lights, don a pair of ice skates and discover the perfect gifts!
